So I was faced Tuesday evening with a choice to get a workout in for the point or to spend my time working on some other areas for personal improvement. Making a mindful decision, I opted for the the former and gave up my one point lead.

60' min bike with Don Draper and a 35' run.

Make sure we're following one another on Strava. Then you can see PRs vs. each other. We should also start posting when we plan to ride so we can do some "group" rides.

54:15 runch. I have a chest cold and sinus thing going on. It was nice to get outside and make the crud move around and get out of my chest. Although the last mile I sounded like a was dying of TB.
Also time to retire my shoes after 789 recorded miles (most of these were on the treadmill, so you have to take that into account). My knees and shins were crying before I was done. Given my history with the Zoot TT shoes I think another pair is in order. My last pair lasted over 600 miles. Again over half on the treadmill. They weigh only 8.6 oz and both have lasted longer than any other shoe I have used.

MarkH, I did a Body Geometry fit with a local fitter who has been at the same bike shop for 15 years. He is awesome. We did the tri bike and I have to go back Monday for him to finish the road bike. He is excellent and I would highly recommend him. I went through body assessment too. Glute strength, range of motion, flexibility, etc.

Catching up on my stats: Swims are getting longer, as are bikes. Runs are starting to edge up there. Better register for the race next weekend ;-)

catching up on some lost days

Thursday - 50' swim
Friday - 40' run and 48' swim
Saturday - 2 hrs and 45' of beautiful spring riding

So my biggest revelation this week is that I was able to discard my uncool goggles (Aquasphere Vista - according to my girls they are weird) and rock a pair of Speedo Vanquishers. They don't work with my Neptune, but they are cooler for the pool. For races, I'd still go with the Vistas.

@Jim - that's an incredible amount of mileage for a pair of shows. I'm good for no more than 300 miles on pair (if even that).

@MarkH - I did a Retuk fit 3 years ago. Worth every penny. Noticed some speed improvement, but the payoff is greater efficiency and less fatigue - head to toe.

Your training plan is a guide but you don’t blindly follow it. You shouldn’t know exactly what you are going to do until the day you are to do it.
