I got my first flat tire last night. I'll never win the lottery but I have the best bad luck! I was just about to turn on my street at the end of my ride when I ran over a piece of glass. It went through my tire and into the tube. I pried it out with pliers. Do I just replace the tub or replace the whole tire? Whats the standard operating procedure?

30 minutes in the pool this afternoon. Gave my legs a break today. Think it was a wise call. Back at it tomorrow morning at zero dark thirty. Will try to do a trainerroad workout while riding around Zwift island.

If it cut through the tire you will want to replace it. A cut will compromise the integrity of the tire and make it dangerous to ride. If it was just a puncture, like with a nail or screw you can get away with a plug and an new inner tube. I wouldn't chance it with glass.

I would say if you can see the cut or hole replace it. Also how old is the tire? As a tire wears it become more susceptible to flats so if its old you might be wise to just replace it even if its a small hole.

2.5 hours on the trainer this morning. 3x25' plus 15' @ 85% FTP. My ANT+ dongle (so I could run the Trainerroad Ap on my iPad) wasn't cooperating so I rode as close to my planned workout as possible while touring around the new Zwift Island.

Hola and hope everyone is doing well.  I've had a nice couple of runs in Brussels and an easy run yesterday in Cologne.  I just arrived into Dusseldorf and tomorrow morning I will run my marathon.  It is very likely that we will get some heavy rain at times, so we will see how it goes.  Can't wait to party at all the bars I saw today right next to the end of the race.  Cheers

Adding rides from Fri (2:18, 49 km) and Sat (1:50, 41.5 km). The winds were tough on both days, but 70 degrees and sunny helped. The Fri ride included a climb to the local ski place - about 750 meters.

Race Day- Angels Race Sprint Tri

Woke up 30 mins late, got up and its 45 degrees and raining. Not the best day for a race. No PR's today, just held on and enjoyed the ride. Feet got so cold on the bike, toes went numb after a few miles making it difficult to stand up on the hills. Had to put on more clothes than usual so T1 time was longer but glad I had on gloves and long sleeves. Run was rough too. At mile one marker, I could finally feel my feet again, mile 2, my knee started aching. Made it back about 8 mins slower than last year. Still got third in Master Clydesdale cat though.

Glad that is over. Back to warm day rides for me.

1 hour swim with the tri club. It was okay and nice to have folks around. I'm hoping in a few weeks their swimmer comes back from racing and I'll have someone to pace with. My Wednesday speed work will be at a track (My first track work) with the club. Since I did the swim in the AM I have a full day off before tomorrow's brick work. I'm kinda liking this part of the schedule

Hola from Dusseldorf!  Congratulations Brian and Jackie on your races!

Quick report and will follow-up with more detail upon my return, but overall, race went really well and was able to achieve a new PR of 3:28 (12 min below my previous PR in Nov in NYC).  I did not expect to run this fast and to be able to hold it together all the way until the end (especially after all the long nights with drinks with customers), but I still decided to give it my best and surprises do happen.  Beautiful race in a great city.  Cheers

Your training plan is a guide but you don’t blindly follow it. You shouldn’t know exactly what you are going to do until the day you are to do it.
