To bounce training ideas off of other people. To share the things that have worked and not worked for me. To help build relationships and comradery in sport.

Agreed. Sometimes the smaller groups makes it easier to exchange ideas. I hope you'll join SBR U again.

this is new to me. I do far better with a little structure and accountability so I am hoping to learn from the mentor and be accountable to the group to push me along and encourage me.

Not doing it this time but have been in a Mentor group and led one for awhile.  Great way to make yourself accountable and to learn from others.

Are you planning on leading the Power Mentor Group again? If so, I'm in for sure. I learned tons last year.

Thanks. It was a great group

I won't be starting one this year. I will join one of the groups however.

I applied for Ben's scholarship last month but didn't get it. I believe he will be hosting a group and I plan on joining, even if he chose incorrectly

I'm in again as it gives me accountibility. It is a great arena to share ideas that have or haven't worked. I've met some great people and have grown because of it, not just as a triathlete, but as a person as well.

I'll be leading one again this season. We have a group on regulars that share the duties and always like to add new folks to the team. I like the small group dynamic and being accountable to a team. We have a regular monthly challenge that focuses on consistency across the disciplines.

I'm staying in one.  I love the support and camaraderie with the other folks in the group, even related to non-sport topics.  Plus I've learned a ton from a group of really knowledgeable and fun people.  I generally train alone and don't know other triathletes in my area so it's also helped me not feel so isolated in my training.

I would love to see a group geared towards power. I just bought a power meter. Tons to learn.

I would love to join a group.  One of the things I've enjoyed over the years is getting to know folks and share the journey.  I've never been in a mentor group but have done the HIM training plan several times that has a thread for sharing.

When do the groups open?

There are in the staging area. When the groups get closed (full) by the mentor Ron will move them to the public view.

You really should do a "run fast and drink beer" group

The idea is actually that the groups shouldn't fill until they go public.  It's possible for popular groups to fill in the staging area, but that's not the intent.  Ron is just making sure he has enough groups ready to go on a predetermined date, and he won't release all the groups at once to make sure groups fill before releasing new ones.  The staging area is just a way to control supply and demand.

Probably a running group and a swimming master club.

I enjoy the social interaction. I enjoy having a program made for me on which I cannot tone down when I don't feel that motivated. I enjoy having my flaws corrected.

Also, the swimming clubs I participate in are before the public swimming sessions. This allows me to finish earlier, cool down at home and sleep earlier.

Guessing from your response, and the number of posts you have so far, that you would qualify for the  "what is a mentor group" answer.

The mentor groups that Marc is referring to is a subset of the BT forums where certain members take on the "mentor" role of a group of other forum members for a few months.  Helps answer their specific questions, provides guidance and encouragement, etc.  Sort of like your own private forum that some feel is less intimidating than the general forums.

Here is an example of a group from last summer.

Hi Everyone.

I have not been in one in about a year but would love to join another one to help me stay focused this season for my second go around in Lake Placid.

Hope to meet some of you on here again soon.
