Subject: IM Mont- Tremblant OR IM CDA?
Help! I can't decide between these races!
I wonder if anyone would like to weigh in and help me make this tough (albeit, fun) decision.
A few factors that may effect the outcome:
I have completed CDA twice
I am running Boston in April (CDA is June so training would be tight vs Tremblant in August)
I plan on a late season 70.3

Thanks in advance for the opinions and sage advice!

How important are any of these events to you? Is there a specific 70.3 you're looking at, or rather a specific time frame for it, or is that more open?

Well for me MT would be an easy choice simply because you've already done CDA twice.  I personally like to do new races rather than redo ones I've already done.

That said, a late season (how late?) 70.3 might be tough if you don't recover well from a full IM.

To answer the questions:
1) I would like to PR at Boston so that is more or less my A race
2) I was looking at the Miami 70.3 (in Oct.), however, I am not set on it, it's just been my pattern the last 2 year i.e. June IM/ August or Sept. 70.3, Oct. marathon

I did CDA on the old course back in 2009 and have done M-T the last 3 years.  I would recommend M-T over CDA hands down.  M-T is THAT good

IMMT would be my choice. Great Venue, awesome race and still time to recover and trian for your late season 70.3.

You have already done CDA, come see what makes IMMT so great, I promise it will not dissapoint!

When it comes down to it, it’s me who has to believe I can run a full marathon after swimming and biking, and no amount of others’ belief in me is going to help.

I’m a 240lb man, and I run relatively long distances. How would you recommend training for marathon and IM distances as heavy as I am?

It makes no sense to train hard for a year to hone that aerobic system only to have all that training undermined by a few anaerobic bursts on race day. So, how do you go about it?

Byrn won’t hold your hand through the long hours and miles required finishing or for success in an IM, he can only show you how to get there. The work is up to you.
