If you are a beginner to triathlons and/or beginnertriathlete.com, our 2016 mentor program has just opened new groups. This program allows you to join a group of likeminded people and ask as many questions as you want, get training information, motivation, information about BT's resources and more in a small group dynamic.

Hi. I used to train for triathlon's back in the late 80's. I am now 49 and very out of shape (round is my shape). I have kept my bike but don't know where and how to start. Don't want to hurt my joints or anything. Any idea's on how to get started again?

Hi all,

I'm a beginner everything. For about 3 years (2010-2012) I lost some weight and completed three 13.1 (run-walk), one 26.2 (Disney is fantastic), several 5K and one sprint triathlon (all around the South Florida area).

Right now Im still overweight, completing a walk-run program (8 weeks) similar to the Couch to 5K, back in Argentina -so starting to get chilly out there, and a couple of weeks ago I registered for the 70,3 in Punta del Este (Uruguay) as a motivation exercise.

I am a long way to been able to complete this triathlon but I've been running consistently for the past month (with this 5k program) -running 4 days in a row as part of the 30 days challenge-

I'm hoping to get much needed advice and knowledge from these forums, as well as the proper motivation to continue in my quest.

Saludos,
Fernando
