Weather has been all over the place here lately - hot and cold, but consistently windy. I really don't find riding my bike when it's so windy all that fun, but it's probably been good for me - I definitely feel more comfortable riding in gusty conditions after these past few rides, which may serve me well if I end up facing a windy race.

Happy with my run system of doing my easy runs outside and speedwork on the treadmill.

Swimming has hit a plateau over the last month. No real improvement in swim times, though I think I have seen some gains endurance-wise. I feel like I made my best gains when most of my set consisted of 50m repeats. I've been doing 1x 200, 2x100, 4x50, 2x100, 1x200 as a main set with usually a bunch of 100s or 50s after. I think the 200s are good for pacing so I will likely keep those, but I think I may go back to doing mostly 50s and see if I can get my times down again. Maybe two sets of 1x200,10x50.

1 week til first tri of the season.

Season opener is in the books, and it went pretty well (though it was cold as hell).

I won the 30-39 AG and finished 9th overall.

Swim felt good - would love to know what my actual swim time was but I was out of T1 at 10:33 so I think I must have done alright. Bike was strong, run was not great but I wasn't pushing it as I tweaked my knee earlier this week and was a little nervous about how was going to hold up, but it did. So staying injury free and getting an AG win and top 10 OA feels pretty good.

Yeah I put one in - it was the Perth Tri.

I had originally had this weekend's Ottawa River Tri as my first race of the season, but I found out about the Perth one and since it's where both my parents and in-laws live I figured I'd do it. Flirted with sticking with this weekend's as well but want to put in more training time to hopefully help my run out, so next tri is the end of the month. I'm not expecting any miracles in a month, but hopefully some small gains coupled with (fingers-crossed) heading into the next race without any soreness in my knee/hamstring (which caused me to hold back on the Perth tri) will let me come up with a better run split.

I know I haven't communicated recently, but just to let you know I finished my first sprint triathlon yesterday. I thought I had trained enough, but was not even close. I came in last, but hey at least I finished. I guess I need to start from scratch again if I want to do another one. Thanks for listening..

Someone's got this in their sig here: DFL > DNF > DNS

Congrats on finishing! You've done something the vast majority of people will never be able to do. No shame in finishing last in your first Tri - you finished, and no doubt learned some stuff you can apply going forward. That's all you can really ask for.

Not been around much, too busy I'm afraid, also came over to your side of "The Pond" for my Vacation in the Dominican Republic.

Anyways, I completed my Oly. In a half decent time of 3:15:12.
It was the hottest day of the year, I had suffered an upset tum the night before hand. However my main aim was to finish. Which I did without stopping (except it transition). I also Raised over $1500 for Alzheimer's Society

Thank you Bo for the tips I collected along the way and thanks to BT too

Great site to be a member of

The weekend following my Oly, I volunteered to be a Marshall for a 70.3 at my local reservoir! Had a fantastic day and thoroughly enjoyed giving back.
Next year the events company are going full distance......... Guess what..... So am I!

I have a half marathon in October and a full in May planned before the ironman next July!
Seems I'm addicted now!

Hope everyone is having a good season?
Time off for me as I'm having a foot Op next month so have to lay up for 3 weeks...... But I'll be back

Awesome job! I need to try to raise some funds for a good cause.

On another "thanks Bo" note, in my 3rd tri of the season (and 3rd AG win) I did the 500m swim in 6:17 which I was super stoked about. Now two weeks until my "A" race which will be Olympic distance, so good to have confidence in my swim for that one.

A Navy Seals program modified specifically for triathletes. Heavy on the running, swimming, push/pull-ups and sit-ups, will you find yourself man (or woman) enough to finish?
