Here is my theory. It seems most everyone was up this week. I am blaming the moon. The phase of the moon is pulling down on the scale. I do not care if there is any scientific validity, I am going with it

Can you tell I was up a pound as well this am? The weekend was not great nutrition wise, what with going to a wine dinner Friday and two wineries on Saturday, plus a 43 m bike ride which is my longest in a LONG time.

It is the moon pulling at that extra water weight, I tell you!

Well to be technical your logic does have some merit depending on the orientation of the moon to when you weigh your self.  Because every object that has mass pulls on every other object that has mass in the universe.  The moon directly above you?  You should be lighter.  Different orientation?  You should be heavier.  I could do some calculations (could be fun!).  .

Sadly, the moon is waxing, so it is getting bigger and exerting more pull. NO WAIT... I weigh during the day, the moon is on the other side of the planet, so it's pull is DOWN on the scale! There..... I am right! I knew it

So I had some free time and I did some calculations.  For each kg you weigh you would be approximately 32.113mg heavier if the moon was on the opposite side of the earth and 34.314mg lighter if directly overhead.  There were a few assumptions made in my calculations

I need to get a life... Triathlons and math I'm a man of much excitement.

I LOVE this!!! I am vowing to only weigh when the new moon is directly across the earth from me. This will take some calculating

Hmmm if I can blame it on the moon...

I'm up again, and have NOT been over-eating. I'm tracking everything, and getting my workouts done. If this keeps up, I may have to look into significantly modifying what I'm eating, although I do try to eat healthy most of the time.

2015/01/21 - 141.5
2015/01/28 - 143.0
2015/02/04 - 144.5

At this point, if I get below 140 by Mar. 22 I'll be happy.

Huzzah!  After a long journey I am finally sub 180.  I saw it yesterday, and today and a few other times.  This is the first time since my sophomore year in high school that I have been under 180, which was 13 years ago.  I started about 3 years ago weighing 260lbs and a pack a day smoker.  I am now a multiple marathon runner, triathlete and much much healthier.

It's been a struggle, there have been ups and downs, I still have 9 or so pounds I would like to lose.  They will be difficult, I will be at <10% body fat.  It's a challenge that I am ready for.  Thanks to many of you people on this forum!

Though for tonight time to celebrate with a glass of wine!

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

1/16 - 153.4
1/23 - 153.4
1/30 - 154
2/6 - 152.4
2/13 - (will be on vacation so no weight-in)
2/20
2/27
3/6

Was pleased to see that my weight had dropped a bit this week. After messing around with Whole30, paleo, over the last year., decided to go back with Matt Fitzgerald's Lean Eating DQS approach and keep the whole grains to quinoa, corn tortillas, etc. Maybe some Ezekial bread now and then. Of course we have a sit-down dinner social thing tonight, so it's anyone's guess what will be on the menu.

The Goal: (-5.5)

4-Jan: 257.5
11-Jan: 263.5 (+6). I don't know. I'm really hoping the batteries in the scale are dying as it was acting weird.
18-Jan: 260.0 (+2.5). Getting up to speed with training again. Also, nothing (unfortunately) was wrong with my scale.
25-Jan: 260.0 (+2.5). No change. Starting MyFitnessPal today. Logging food was such a PITA before, but I need to do this.
1-Feb: 257.5 (+0). Back to my starting point. but up 1.5 from midweek... Need to be stronger on my weekends (Fri+Sat)
8-Feb: 254.0 (-3.5). I have no idea how I'm dropping this much... Yesterday morning I was down to 253.0 (250.0 after my ride ).

Nice results so far from several of us. Keep it up, it's keeping me motivated despite limited success so far.

I am up a pound this week but I am OK with it this time. I opted to take the weekend off with a hope that a change in diet might shake some things loose. So Saturday I ate on plan but went out with friends and had more than my share of beers. Yesterday enjoyed pizza with my daughter and then a small DQ Hot Fudge Sunday. I may have overstepped on that one. Did I tell you I am lactose intolerant?

I have been reading all sorts of techniques on how to beat a stall over the weekend. The methodologies were all over the map but I did notice one common thread in most was a singular food for 1-2 days. There were apples, steak, eggs, grapefruit, etc. The general plans were to eat that one food for one day and rarely 2 or 3 and then back to whatever plan you on on before.

So I am going with a steak fast for the next 24 hours. It all sounds ridiculous and some of the things I read seemed to be reaching trying to explain the science. However, people did have success with it so what the heck, it's only a day. I don't think I will die if I don't get my fruit and vegi's for 24 hours. The plan is to eat 4 meals of 4oz of lean beef for 24 hours. I did not have any this morning so I ate 2 eggs and will eat 3 meals of steak today and finish with one tomorrow morning. Then back to a more balanced diet immediately after. Also only drink for the next 7 days is Water and black coffee. Honestly, the black coffee and water is going to be the toughest part of this.

As expected, last week's anomoly was just that, an anomoly since I had a larger amount of intake right before bed the night before my weigh in.

I Was expecting to be slightly heavier than this today tbh. I even had fruit and a shake right before bed last night, but had a pretty good sleep so :p

Woo Hoo!!!!

My plan appears to have worked. After 4 weeks of being stuck at 210 I am down to 208 this morning, while I know there is a chance it won't stick I am excited for the win. I will add that eating nothing but steak for the entire day on Monday was not such a bad thing. 4 meals of 4 ounces of steak on Monday seemed like witchcraft and perhaps it was but the scale says it worked.

As of this morning, I am up to 255.0. Granted, I went stupid yesterday with lunch at Pei Wei. Then I made Hungarian Chicken (Chicken Paprikish) for dinner and dessert was chocolate drizzled strawberries, apples and bananas... plus whipped cream...

Reason: It was our Anniversary. Even though we're not celebrating it until the weekend of the 28th, we always do something on the actual day.

Also, as of yesterday, my running has been suspended. My bunion issue has flared up making things painful. I'm going to swap out my SPD pedals for flats tonight, and just put in as many hours on the trainer as I can stand. Also, kick drills in the pool yesterday was a no-go...

Nice work everyone.  Looks like we have some real success going on here!  Thanks for all the kind words about reaching one of my major milestones as well!

Hope you enjoyed yourself rick, life is worth living to, just get back on track one day will not derail long term success.

I am a bit nervous for my weigh in today.  I have not had the best food week.  Including the 600 calorie creme brulee that I made on Sunday night.  It was fantastic though!

Yeah... I've been pretty good for the last couple of weeks (as evidenced by my numbers) and I figured 1 day of stupid wasn't going to kill me. Especially given the occasion

Not weighing in this week. Last week was spent really tapering since this was the first race of the season ( just a 10k road run ) but I was pushing to get here, and wanted to make sure I didn't injure myself.

Lots of eating this week as well, make sure I am WELL recovered.

Ended up running a 48:53, which is not my fastest time, but considering I really only had 6 weeks since I got past ONE run per week, and coming back from my knee injury last year, and still 10-15 pounds heavier than the last time I ran this race, I am quite pleased!

This week I'll take it easy for the first half, and get some easier runs and rides in as the week goes on!

2/16 204.6. Fail. I took Saturday off training to go diving and, well it was valentine's day.... Sunday didn't do anything as my back was wonky from diving and... there you go. Hopefully not as bad as it seems, today I am at 202.6 again, but Monday is the day of reckoning.

18-Feb: 252.5. Up 1.5 from Sunday. This week has been a little rocky with diet and training so far. TBH, after 9lbs in 3 weeks I've been waiting for the bounce . Buckle down for the rest of the week, minimize the "damage" and keep on rolling.

I am not sure what would be scary about it. Looks like you are averaging 1.1 pounds per week which is what most experts suggest is a healthy rate. Congratulations and keep going.

If I were to count it from the beginning... yes. However, the last 3 weeks were a huge drop (for me) @ 2.5, 3.5 then 3.0 lbs. That's why I was getting a bit worried simply because of such a large amount in a short period of time.

Most of us have hectic personal and work schedules. In fact, to fit in our training it is often a daily achievement!
