I would like to replace my old 405 with a new device that has better connectivity to sites like Endomondo, but I have a couple of ANT+ bike S&C sensors, a foot pod and a bike display that displays but does not record.

What is a good solution for bike and run?
I do carry my IPhone, but it flattens in 2-3 hours if its measuring a bluetooth HR strap and reading GPS

Garmin 310XT if swimming is not important to you, 910XT if it is and you don't need the latest model of everything, and 920XT if you want the latest.

Great reply.....I would go with a 910xt because of being water proof. If you run in the rain as I do know worries. And if you don't you should it's fun.

btw I have the 405 and use it as my back up.....

The 310 has the same waterproofing rating as the 910 (and 920).

I have the Garmin 910xt and really like it, but I am yearning for the new 920xt.

As for connecting with sites like Endomondo, any Garmin will do because it relays the data through Garmin Connect. But for direct transfer while you are running, you'd need one of the watches that connects to your phone via bluetooth. The 910xt and earlier use the same ANT+ stick for uploading information to Garmin Connect via your computer. The nice thing about the 920xt and a few of the others (Fenix 2 and 620 are a couple) is that it also Bluetooth connectivity to your cellphone and wifi data transfer to Garmin Connect as well.

For a comparison of all these features, take a look at DC Rainmaker: http://www.dcrainmaker.com/

I recently upgraded from the 910 to the 920 and I have to say the 920 is awesome! As soon as I'm done with my workout it starts syncing with my phone and bam, seconds later it's all loaded. Very nice!

The only concern I have is the buttons are very easy to push and a few times the screen has changed on me (only in the pool so far) and I wonder if that will be an issue in a race with wetsuit removal. Otherwise hands down I highly recommend the 920. I had nothing but problems with the 910 (I know I'm in the minority here), but loved the 310.

Yes your right. I was thinking of the 305. I think, well the one everyone would put in a baggie then under their swim cap for open water swims...

Yeah. While the 305's are dirt cheap now, I think the 310 will remain as the best deal watch out there for a long time. Big battery, waterproof, works well...and under $150.

The only thing that makes me want to upgrade from the 310 is its size on my tiny wrists.

Awesome useful comments guys!

I had not thought of the 310, I think the 920 is out of my price range but maybe a 910, is the 910 too big to wear as an everyday watch, I do this with my 405 and I used to have a Timex TGT, that was hopeless and too big to wear all the time

Scroll down to 'size comparisons'. The 310 is a tad thicker than the 910, but not noticeably so. (The color scheme will be a bigger reason to wear the 910 daily over the 310). I wear the 910 while on trips, so I can easily point my way back to the hotel. It is fine, but I just don't like watches, so I don't wear it daily otherwise.

The 910 is a bit large to wear as a daily watch, at least for a woman like me with small wrists. I do sometimes wear it after I finish my workout, but it's not the most stylish thing.

Check out the options from Suunto before you make a final decision. I was in the market for an upgrade from the 305 this past summer. After many hours of research I went with the Suunto Ambit 2 Sapphire. Very happy with it and has been far more reliable than Garmin products so far.
