Comments:

Race went well. My only goal was to break 4hrs and to stay upright. I managed to do both. It started with a 1/3mile along a levee to let things open a bit. I went into the trails in 4th place, and stayed there til right at the half way point. TOok it nice and smooth, never pushed too hard, but ran bit harder than I probably should've on the way out. Moved into 2nd place about mile 16, adn stayed there until getting passed coming onto the levee for the final 1/3 mile. I was hurting pretty badly at this point, and some young 26yo flew past me. He made up probably 4-5 min on the last ~6 mile leg back to the finish. More power to him!. Overall, a fun trail, very runnable, and would be very fast if dry. I am very glad it wasn't any muddier than it was. I had been not looking forward to it the night before, expecting ankle deep mud for ~26 miles
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Post race
Warm down:

walked around for 5 min, drove home, took a shower, adn loaded up for the 3hrs back to Franklin

What limited your ability to perform faster:

mud

Event comments:

This was a great small race. ~175 runners between the 1/2 and full. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Well marked, very runnable trail. No major climbs, just lots of roots to watch out for. It drained very well despite 1.5 inches of rain in the preceding 48 hrs.

Performance: Good
Course: double out and back along the lake. Very twisty-turny. Remarkably dry for the 1.5 inches of rain in the preceding 48hrs. By the secondl oop, though, every thing was slippery adn washed out. NO big creek crossings or standing water above my ankles, though, so shoes were muddy, but remarkably dry
