I'm going from doing tri's to aiming for a 2016 70.3. That being said, how do I figure out which require qualifying and which you just reg for? I'm doing this for my 40th birthday. I'd like the trip to be a vacation for my family as well, so the kona half would be ideal. Does it require qualifying?
The only 70.3 that requires qualifying is the 70.3 World Championship which is in Mooloolaba, Australia for 2016 and Zell Am See, Austria this year. The Hawaii 70.3 is just a regular event. It actually does not sell out quickly (if ever). The 2015 event is still open.
I just finished the NYC marathon on Sunday and I think I'm going to venture into triathlons. I am doing an Olympic distance and I want to do a 70.3 next year too. Any advice?
Some mistakes I made during the Hawaii Ironman 70.3. Don't be caught out on the course not knowing how or not having the equipment to change a flat tire.
After you have established the Ironman goal, the most important factor outside of the training is which race to choose? What is your best sort of course, hilly, rolling, flat?
