I've been looking at one of these.  I am a numbers junkie and would love the HR data it could provide.  I don't think it is quite as accurate as a chest HR monitor but it seems pretty close.  I am also curious to see how many steps I take in a day, etc..

Does anyone have any experience with one of these?  I am curious how it works for non step based activities such as cycling.  While $150 is not a huge investment I don't want to throw my money away either.  They must be popular because they are sold out in all the stores near me.

Highly trained athletes can maintain a specific HR longer than a newbie without much creeping; their endurance is greater—thus able to keep pace efficiently and without much additional increase in HR.

My doctor says 140bpm HR is my max, but that feels like a walk in the park... I don't know what to do, how to train, and my motivation is waning. Any suggestions?
