I know it's been posted before, but I can not find it now, what does the number and color of stars next to our user name signify?

Someone will correct me if I am wrong but I believe it's related to post count.

Its inversely proportional to the seat height on your bike.

Obviously my seat is not too high!

it's a measure to let people know that just because you have made a lot of posts... you still probably don't know what you're talking about.

Example: My * count.

it's a game.  you need to figure it out.

Gold = 5000 posts

Silver 2000 posts

Red = 1000 posts.

Blue are for 500 posts

Pink stars are for 100 posts

Green are for 25 posts

A gold star here- means that you are certainly wasting way too much time on this forum.

It also allows you to start hawking your products, as nobody can claim you only came here just to sell your sports paraphernalia.

<-----  When you get really close to a big number of posts, it's obnoxiously long.

I thought there was a way to turn them off. Dunno.
I guess I'll see after I post this.

yes- if you don't want to be flashy and brag about how many useless opinions you've shared:

No one likes to look like a fool, but it’s hard not to when you don’t know what you’re doing as a beginner, so if it helps, go ahead and pretend.
