Hilly rides in Des Moines area

Take Great Western south out of Waterworks and go down to Orilla. Take a right in Orilla and you are out on the highway. You can loop around by Walnut Woods out that way. That will give you some good rollers. I trained for IMFL and IMCoz last year and did a lot of long rides out there. I would ride up to Saylorville Lake and then come back and do 2-3 hilly loops out there for my 100 mile rides.

I am in the Norwalk area and would love to hook up for some rides eventually. What days/times do you typically ride? I do a lot of mid-AM riding because I stay home with my kids and only work PT.

Last summer I rode from my parents house in Norwalk to my house in Urbandale and a woman was riding behind me and rode up to ask me a similar question...then she immediately dropped me!!! It was within a few miles of Willow Creek golf course at the time I think. I wonder if that was you!!!

Anyway, my longer rides are on Sunday mornings and are starting to ramp up to some long rides of 60 as I get closer to Kansas Legend 70.3 in June. During the week it is whenever I can go without totally inconveniencing my family!

I've thought about walnut woods area before. Thanks for the suggestion, I might try that. I'll post a note out here a few days in advance if I head down that way for a ride.
