Subject: training post lumbar microdiscectomy
I am 4 weeks post op of L4-5 microdiscectomy. Able to swim a mile and walk 3 miles. I tried to get on bike 3 weeks post op, lasted 10 minutes, and have been paying for it ever since. New MRI just shows inflammation no re-herniation. PT will start next week.

Need some encouragement. If anyone has had this surgery when did you start biking? Running? Lifting?

Thank you.

I've been struggling with a disk bulge for nine months with no let-up. I am seriously considering the operation. It would be nice to be even able to bike again let alone run.

I have a Specialized Allez Elite road bike with aero bars. It has the stock seatpost. I am interested in changing the seat post to one that is more forward. What would I look for?

A few years ago, I was diagnosed with two lumbar herniated discs (L1-L2). I have started a very slow build towards my first tri. Are there any recommendations or warnings I should heed?

What you eat prior to your workout will determine your energy levels during a workout. What you eat after a workout will determine how quickly you recover.
