Subject: Hi, new wannabe here
Girlfriend and I are anticipating a full summer of athletic events to include a few sprint triathlons and a half Iron man. We have been training hard through the winter and looking forward to racing. We completed out first OCR of the year in March and placed (me) 4th in my age group 43+ and she placed 3rd in her age group 42.

Biking is something new to me and haven't been on a bike for more than 10-15 minutes in the last 20 years. I have spent a good deal of time on bikes at the gym and conditioning is not going to be a major issue. I experienced an epic crash last night as I attempted to transition to my aero bars... Nothing injured other than my pride as my 13 year old son was right behind me and couldn't stop laughing as I did a shoulder roll and came up ion my feet with a huge roll of turf hanging off my shoulder..., but I'm obviously missing something here. Any words of advice on transitioning to aero bars?

Thanks
Steve & Paula

Welcome!

Take it slow. Do you have a trainer that you can put your bike on and ride in place? That could give you the opportunity to get used to riding in that position.

No trainer as of yet. Good point though!

Completed mini sprint today and we both did well. Paula placed 2nd overall women's, and I came in 4th over all men's. So great start, and showed us were we need some work.
