Where am I supposed to hold the pull buoy when using it.

My instinct is to have it just below my knees clasped between my calves? Is this right?

"Pull buoys should be gripped between your thighs — closer to your crotch than your knees — as you swim."

Between calves will strain your groin. Thighs or ankles.

I've found that the closer to I keep it to my groin, the more natural my body position is.  Otherwise my back ends up arched with my middle sagging.  It feels a little invasive but it's also much more comfortable than holding it farther down.

These tips were useful. Daft that I had not just googled it in the past. Have been using it the wrong way for 6 months. My session last night with is at (cough) groin height were much better. I kind of suspected something was wrong but didn't know what.

Not really a swim drill, but more of a focus on proper catch and pull technique to engage the lats and not the shoulders.

Next time you reach for your pull buoy, think again. By creating dependency on a buoy, the athlete never learns how to correctly create a more efficient freestyle stroke through better body position.
