Pre-race routine:

Drove up Friday in the afternoon. Checked into my hotel. picked up my credntial and my daugthers. My daughter had to switch to the 4 miler due to injury. Dinner at Chopotle and then a course preview. Dropped my daughter off and in bed by 10:30

Up at 5:30am - brought oatmeal with me for breakfast. Met up with my daughter in her dorm and was osite by like 6:45am
Event warmup:

Did an active warmup with my daughter and hit the bathroom - they use the football stadium so plenty of bathrooms.

Ate a gel before the start

Comments:

Big race over 4000 folks - so the first mile plus was hard. My first half mile split was truly slow ad it was a open water swim - just thrashing, I picked out some folks to follow early on to keep distracted.

It was very humid - I wish I knew how much true weight I lost but I sweated through everything.
What would you do differently?:

I positioned myself at the start I thought well - maybe more to the front. I had a good pace into the last two mile - the last 1.5 miles is really tough - Laurel Hill Rd was no joke what so ever
Post race
Warm down:

Got my medal a bottle of water and banana; hit the bathroom then the post-race stuff. Met up with my daughter outside the stadium- she had run her race, gotten a shower and was back - she finished 3rd in her age group.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The weather? have a cold - but I was pleased in the performance

Event comments:

Excellent race - the chance to run through Chapel Hill including up and down Franklin Street is just plain cool. Iconic race in the state. Truly enjoyed it

Congrats on your race!! I was about 10 minutes behind you, but I agree about the crowding....I don't think this race can handle 10,000 runners which is the stated goal for the 2017 race (10 year anniversary).

10,000 runners would have to be in 2 or 3 waves separated by 15 minutes. I almost ran into a cone on Country Club - it was blocking a parking spot - the person right in front of me swerved and I had no time to react.

I'm curious about the 'don't increase your run by more than 10% per week' rule. Is there a minimum mileage under which this doesn't apply?

How should I go about training for the marathon while also building base in the other two events? Doing this seems like it's causing me to break the 10% rule in running.

Yes, the Dual is a little heavier than Cervèlo’s high end counterparts. But…the price is within reach of the masses and it still incorporates all of the design features that make a Cervèlo special.
