Comments:

Kept tripping and falling. Landed in brambles and nettles once. Left foot just couldn't clear the ground and kept getting caught on rocks, roots, and other objects.
What would you do differently?:

Not run this race.
Post race
Warm down:

Ate cookies, changed my shirt (it was full of stickers), and visited the First Aid tent for Calumine lotion.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Rocks, roots, erosion, loose gravel, etc.

Event comments:

This was a good race, but I would not run it again because it exceeds my physical abilities. I just can't get my left foot off the ground, which meant I was continually kicking rocks, sticks, pine cones, and other debris at the other racers, as well as tripping on everything on the path. I fell lots of times and almost fell more times than I can count. This was not a safe race for me. I am fortunate I did not get hurt. However, I am very pleased with my performance. This was my first 10K, and it was a pretty hard course.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had weight issues. I remember standing on the scale as a child weighing 60 pounds and feeling fat. My family dealt with stress by eating.
