So I went all the way up through the Kestrel bike line, at least on the Tri side, and I came back down to an Airfoil.

Started out with a Talon Tri, liked it but wanted more. Got an Airfoil, but the stack was a bit small, so then I got a 4000. The 4000 was nice and all, but I just wanted the ride quality back of the Airfoil. So I found a BNIB 2012 of the right size, then proceeded to take everything off of it. Crank, gone, derailleurs, gone, cockpit, gone, brakes gone. You get the point.

I know the Airfoil is not as aero as the 4000, so I did my best to make up for it with a smart build, but not breaking the bank. Sure I could still upgrade the basebar, but can't really afford one of the nice $800 units, so I'm stuck with this $79 one I modified.

Here it is.

Upgraded parts:
Tririg brakes, Tririg stem, different cockpit. Took off the Shimano, and went with Force derailleurs and an FSA SLK crank. Also SRAM RTC shifters and a Cobb saddle.

I may eventually modify the frame and take the shifter cables through the top tube and then down, all internal. Thought about modifying the rear brake cable exit as well to just above the brake/under the seat post.

looks good! I'd cut the upturns off of the base bar personally, but otherwise pretty well put together.

Airfoil looks sweet too.

Most of those thinking about tackling a long swim instinctively feel it’s necessary to Do much to build endurance - more yards, harder laps. But a focus on Receiving is ideal for long distances.

How should I go about training for the marathon while also building base in the other two events? Doing this seems like it's causing me to break the 10% rule in running.
