Double shot race report:
This was a business trip. The business was to get DH his BQ. The short of it is - he came DAMN close - and he's not upset he's flying high that he did so well and he knows he'll get it next time!!

FYI this was his 5th marathon and his times are below (he needed a 3:15 to qualify)
Hartford 4:16
Providence 3:58
Hartford 3:45
Vermont City 3:38
Philadelphia 3:23
NJ 3:16

my turn:
So yeah I ran the half. It was uneventful for me. I've been training for IMMT through a very busy winter and have been feeling slow and behind in my training so I knew if could just hang on to being at or near my PR I'd be happy. My PR was 2:08 so I missed it by a minute, HOWEVER, the last 3 miles were in the wind and I gave it hell! I've started wearing my heart rate monitor per coach and you can see the last 3 miles I really kicked it up - if it weren't for the wind it would have shown on the clock too :)

Duathlon in 2 weeks - guess I better start riding outside too!

Congratulations on the race!  Wind can be a b*tch to run through!  Under better conditions, you'd have PR'd for sure!

Congratulations to both of you!  Your husband's times are really coming down, so he is right to feel he will get the BQ soon!  And your almost PR with a headwind is awesome!

Being that close to your PR in windy conditions is something to be very happy about, IMO.  Nice work out there!  It's very cool to see DH's progression and decreasing marathon times.  So close!  Next time, next time, no doubt!

Wow! You both were so darn close to your goals   Great runs with the windy conditions, though. And DH will nab that BQ next time!

Great race and way to throw down at the end!

One minute off your PR is awesome, especially with unfavorable conditions.

Congrats!

Matt

Well done, to only just miss your PR in those conditions is great.

Steady is our walk. Ignoring the pain that is radiating from my feet, I continue to place one foot in front of the other. Again I wonder, “Why am I doing this?”

Having three seasons under my belt I thought I knew what I was doing. That all changed with a few new challenges and a bunch of new friends.
