Just wanted to drop in and introduce myself. I have been a runner for a long time and always had an interest in triathlons, but never in a position to make it happen. I recently purchased a Fuji Roubaix 1.0LE and have signed up for my first sprint on June 14. I have spent countless hours reading on the forum and watching some online videos to ensure I have a good idea of what to expect, but I don't want to get too focused on everything being just perfect. I plan on having a good time and using it as a learning experience. My ultimate goal is to continue training and get into some HIM triathlons in mid to late next summer.

Other than consistent training, just try to get a few open water swims in (if you can) and a week before the race, practice transitions (laying out equipment) and going through the motions of race day.  That will make sure you have everything and you will know what and in what order to do everything in transition.  Other than that, have fun and don't sweat it.  Driving the course can help too.

I didn’t used to like to run slow. You begin to recalibrate your needs and wants and if-only you could jog an easy two miles, three times per week. Running is a gift.

He looked at us and flat out told us that he wouldn't accept any of us as his students at a technical diving level with the poor level of physical fitness we had.

Get inspired to race a triathlon even if your older.
