Pre-race routine:

Woke up at my friends house. Decided to walk to the race venue it was about a 1.3 mile walk. Good warm up. It was cold this morning. I am glad that the start was inside! Sure made waiting much better.
Event warmup:

Stretched a bit. Nothing to special. Walked around on the floor when the opened it up. Got in position for a 4:00 hour finish.

Comments:

Good run. I paced myself much better then previous marathons. I still have room from improvement on overall speed but I am happy with my splits. The first 2 miles only differed by 4 seconds.

What would you do differently?:

Get a few longer runs in. I could also lose about 10 more pounds.
Post race
Warm down:

walked around to cool down a bit. My friends were waiting for me to finish. We walked back to their place which was a good cool down (about 1.3 miles) It took a lot longer then walking to the venue in the morning!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not having enough long runs in. Carrying a few extra pounds on me.

Event comments:

Good race. I would do it again, but I don't know if I will. I'm focused on 50 in 50 states so I have a lot of others to do.

Performance: Good
Course: Course was very flat. Through the streets of Fargo and Moorhead. Ran through the Universities and some nice neighborhoods. There was a very good showing of support from the local community. One of the best I have seen. There was also plenty of music (some live!) along the way to motivate.

I signed up for Ironman Frankfurt, next year July - and I am very excited about it. I originally planned to run my first Marathon in the middle of September, but am not sure if this is wise.
