Subject: Tires - How much difference?
I recently bought a new Orbea Ordu tri bike and it came with Challenge Forte tires. Seemingly everyone I talk to recommends Conti GP4000s tires for my race this weekend. Is the difference significant enough to replace brand new tires to ride the Conti's? I tried searching to find comparisons between the two but didn't come up with much.

Any input is appreciated.

I have not ridden on the Forte's but I can tell you that the Conti's are a great feeling, fast tire.  You will notice a difference over a middle of the road tire.

Also, you could use a pair of the Conti's for racing and swap back the Forte's for training so it wouldn't necessary be a total replacement.  If you do decide to try something different make sure you do it now and have a ride or two before your race to make sure all is in order.

Conti's are notoriously tough to mount. The Challenge Forte's have 120 threads per inch (TPI), which is supposed to be a little more supple than 110 TPI GP4000s. I would use the Challenge Forte's until they are worn out.

I started a thread where there was great advice given. I followed it. Got wider tires (GP4000sii) and felt a little difference early. After they sort of broke in (50-100 miles or so) and I got to an ideal psi for front and rear: I SIGNIFICANTLY feel the difference and am thoroughly glad I listened
