It's the same temperature for everyone else on the course. You got it.

Good with that. I am more concerned about black ice if it stays cool out.

Best of luck! My first HIM attempt (jn late June!) a couple of years ago ended up not being a HIM due to heavy snow on upper elevations of the bike course. I hear you about black ice--it's a big issue in Oregon in winter and spring, on into late April sometimes. But count your blessings--could be 35C at the START of the run, the way it was for me last weekend.

Good luck! It sounds like you're doing the Airdrie Triathlon. I did the same race in Calgary a couple of times before they moved it to Airdrie. As a fast swimmer do you start in the first wave? As a slower swimmer I went later which gave some time for the temp to warm up a couple of degrees. Looks like the temp for you should be close to Hot Runner's 35 degrees. (But Fahrenheit rather than Celsius.)

Hope you got around ok. I do tend to avoid colder weather riding because of things like that. Had to watch things down here too this morning with the storm potential. Getting a little wet isn't an issue, but severe storm watches this year has meant golf ball hail and tornado touchdowns.

No it goes slowest to fastest. I wore my camouflage Canada suit, Castelli vest and my Goretex winter bike shoes. 2nd OA 1 sec back (TT format).

My son was 14 sec out of 1st despite overzealous volunteers having him go through the finish a lap early, I put him back out on the course. Pretty happy with his efforts and grit. He is 8 and they race 8-9. The other boys were all 9.

I'm glad to hear that the Canadian Princess sucked it up.   lol!

Congrats!

That was never a question... I just don't want to ride a$$ over tea kettle needlessly.

Jr toughed it out and was wearing 2-3 layers for an hour after.

He swam&races well nearly lapping another kid in 100m. He does not do very much Tri training (per se). Saturday was down cold rain... he practiced putting his shoes 4x...

My takeaway is that you can't 100% trust race volunteers with kids his age. They misdirected over half of the kids in his group. Family and friends posted to key locations to offer encouragement and to make sure they do the right amount.

I just completed my first Ironman season and I was free of injuries. I am now just messing around when I run at a fast pace (for me), I get a shooting pain in my right knee.

Can't run outside in the snow? Think again. I flew up the first hill with surprising ease and power. The Yaktrax gripped into the ice like racing spikes on a rubber track. Sweeeeet.
