Good morning BT!

4:15am;  :60 minutes on the KK, simulated hill repeats

5:15am:  :30 min run, incline repeats (I sense a pattern here!)

5:45am:  :25 minutes strength and core

Later:  1:15 swim!  Great day all around!

Who is racing this weekend?  Who has a three day weekend?  I'm not racing, but loving that we have Monday off! Two weeks of school left...!

AM 40 minute trainer ride with some one-minute repeats. Actually felt good to do something harder.
PM 30 minutes of strength stuff.

Attempting to get back to "real" training next week. I entered another HIM today (Toughman in Washington State in July--their race info promises "No heat exhaustion!") but due to family situation not sure I'll actually make it. Just want to stop stressing that the race will be closed if I enter later. Otherwise will just do a hometown Oly at end of July.

No race this weekend (except racing to get report cards done), no long weekend. I worked all weekend last week, so looking forward to actually kinda sorta having a weekend. (Mostly done with reports, finished this semester's coursework yesterday.) Three weeks to go here!

Not doing a competitive race, but participating in the Ride 2 Recovery - Ohio Honor Ride in Columbus / New Albany, OH. Doing 35 miles on my Wal-Mart bike.

Today's workout(s) are TBD. I might have time to get the mountain bike out and hit the trails this morning (I work second shift today). I might hit the gym at work for strength training, depending on my mood / how I feel.

Arrowhead 5k tomorrow at 0900 CST. I will say this - whoever put packet pickup right next to the ProShop at the stadium was brilliant - easy way to get me to spend money, especially with the discount I got in my race packet. I'm weak, I tell you - weak!!!

10:00am - 30 minutes on the trail on my mountain bike. Funny story - I have not had the time to ride as much as I would like (it's been cold and wet this spring), so I have not been riding clipped in at all this year. While I was riding today, my right calf tried to cramp up a bit, so I grabbed both breaks and came to a screeching halt...only to realize I was still clipped in when I stopped all forward progress. Crap. At least I hit the grass. Nothing bruised except my pride and ego.

3:00pm - 30 minutes of strength, focused on chest, shoulders, and abs. I took the legs out of today's workout with the race tomorrow and the bike today.

If it makes you feel any better...

The only time I've fallen after forgetting that I was clipped in was when I was riding with a friend. We're the same height, and she kept saying she thought my new bike was too small. I said it wasn't. So finally we decided to switch bikes for a lap and check out each others' fits. We pulled over....and fell into each other because we'd both forgotten we were clipped in. Luckily her husband kind of jumped into the middle and kept us from actually toppling over.

Thanks for sharing. Unfortunately, it's not the first time I've fallen over while clipped in. Thankfully, it's only happened a very small number of times.

Happy Friday everyone.

5 mile run tonight, picking new roads to keep me entertained. It's so pretty out in the country side in the sunset. It's Friday!

There is nothing quite like that nano second of time when you know you're going down!

Agreed - it's a tad frightening, especially as you consider how you're going to land so as to not hurt yourself! Is it me, or is it always in slow-motion, too?!

8 mile lunch run.

UPS man had brought me some new tires, pedals, and shoes today. Yesterday a nice glass gash in my front tire caused the tube to blow through just as I finished my commute to work (literally blew up as I racked the bike), so good timing! Spent an hour doing some bike work cleaning and installing new toys.

1 mile jog/walk with wife and dogs after dinner.

I'm on the other side of the college-student desk. I'm the one with the red pen in my hand. Those of us with schedules that change from day to day actually have an advantage, I think.
