Hello! I am fairly new to the sport of triathlon, but have a very solid base in running, including a 1:44 half marathon. My first olympic distance tri is in October. Swimming and biking are pretty new to me, but I've gotten up to a 1200m pool swim and 15mi. bike in the last two months from almost nothing.
I'm 14 years old and looking forward to the great world of triathlon ahead of me.

Wow, 1:44 for a 1/2 at 14 yrs is pretty impressive. Also, sounds like you're doing great on the bike and in the pool. Have fun, ask lots of questions, train well and you will do great!

Olympic at 14 can be a bit much. Not a bad thing to try it but most youth coaches will steer you to racing sprint 750/20/5. You are considered a youth by USA/ITU standards so don't fall prey to the distance snobbery that many triathletes engage in and put down shorter distance races. There are valid reasons why the Jr Elites race sprint and not Olympic distance.

The priority at 14 should be getting fast before you go far.,

I definitely agree. I'll have to put in some serious training to be ready. I'm doing a sprint distance tri in August to prepare, but I'll be putting in enough miles to be ready for the Olympic.
