These lulls in weight loss are really frustrating. I'm 6' and sat at 226 for quite a while. Got back into my training last year and watched the portion sizes, changed the food a little...dropped down to 208 fairly quickly but then sat there all summer, even though I increased my exercise volume. Decided to experiment a bit in December and started keeping an eye on carbs....tried to aim for 100 grams a day but no more. Quickly I dropped to 200. Someone told me I should really be thinking about trying to aim closer to around 50 grams a day, so I started doing that, and dropped down to where I am right now...about 188-190. This is where I seem to be stuck now once again. I really feel that it is completely reasonable to be shooting for a weight of 175. I certainly see people my height that are in the 150's and 160's but I think people would think I was sick at that point. I really feel 175 is probably a good goal, but I just can't seem to take off those last 10-15 lbs. It is very encouraging when you see a pound or two coming off every week. It is very discouraging when you just go back and forth between 188-190.

Any suggestions? I am not counting calories, but I make sure that I am not hungry, and I snack a little throughout the day to keep the metabolism moving and avoid hunger. Lots of almonds, olives, maybe a spoonful of almond butter....breakfasts is usually eggs/avocados...lunch is a chicken thigh, some almonds and maybe a greek yogurt (but I have to keep track of those carbs). Dinner....chicken/fish with some low carb vege like broccoli etc.

I've found that when I hit a lull counting calories can help get me out of it. Little things can really add up.

It is frustrating, but at least you are not gaining any weight. Try to do something different. Your body likes to be surprised. Eat differently, try different types of sports, exercises.

I quickly browsed an article in Men's Health that talked about doing a triathlon, and how it wasn't really that hard. With a "tsk!" I quickly turned the page while thinking, "Yeah, right!"

I’m terrified of biking hills and the triathlon I am registered for has several hills…on AND off road!! I’m willing to do whatever it takes to finish this triathlon. Any guidance?
