Most scissors kicking is a response to instability, due to over rotation, overreaching, crossing over, b reathign late, breathing early, etc.
Is your scissor kick gone even without the fins? Were you able to identify what caused it?

Freestyle is my son's (age 11 ) worst stroke. His root cause his right arm crossing over. That causes him to compensate with his left arm, which causes his hip to go out and he the scissor kick to get alligned. He has been swimming since he was 7 in rec leagues, last year was his first year club. Watching it would drive Most of the coach would point it out (both the cross over and scissor ) but it was relatively recent that a coach actually say there and identified the actual cycle of the breakdown. He has worked really hard over the last 3 months relearning free. But he can focus on the right arm. |
