on long bike rides? The pair I have actually creates more wind noise than it blocks. I would like to spend less than $20. What do you suggest?

I make it a practice to never ride with earbuds. It's hard enough to stay safe on the roads without impairing my ability to hear cars coming at me. I know lots of riders do it, but count me out.

None.

I wear a set of jaybird earbuds when I'm on the rollers inside but don't wear any outside.

+1 Only wear earbuds when I'm on local paved trails with zero traffic. On roads with cars, no way.

None ... nada ... zilch!  It's a big safety issue for me and I refuse to wear them when cycling.

I wear Sony MDREX58V and find the sound quality very nice. I almost always wear them when bike commuting to work which is about 75/25% bike path vs town roads with plenty of traffic. Personally I've never had a problem hearing even quiet approaching cars from the rear or even another cyclist overtaking me, but I keep music at volume so I can hear outside sounds. With good in-ears it takes very little volume for me to hear the music without needing to overpower everything else. I know a lot of people dislike earbuds and consider them a safety issue, but in my experience it's all about a good in-ear and a safe volume. I actually think I have more ambient wind noise without them, so I don't think it hurts anything. If I were to bump the volume up a several steps then they'd be a safety issue.

For perspective, I get very annoyed by runners who have earbuds in on shared paths and cannot hear me announce when I'm passing because they have their music too loud and then seem surprised as I swing around them. So, it's all about how you use them and your awareness.

I like the Apple ear buds when I run and have a set of Yurbuds as well - but never listen to music when I'm cycling.

I found the Yurbuds at TJMaxx for under $20 - they are usually more than that, but if you look/shop around you can find deals! They are super comfy!

Where I live, I can go 20 to 40 minutes without seeing a vehicle, and I can see for miles. So let me rephrase this...

for those who do....what earbuds do you use while riding?

x2.  yurbuds are the only ones that I have found that stay in but you do need to be using the right size.]

When I ride... on my trainer, I use Jaybird  bluetooth.  Pretty expensive even with the USAT discount.  But they fit and I like the free range of motion away from my phone.  8 hour play on a full charge.

Step it up $10 & these Jaybirds knock-offs are a fabulous deal. Tight, noise-canceling fit & deep bass. Have run w/them in nasty hot muggy weather. No slippage & they seem to hold up well.

For biking, I use a standard bluetooth single-ear-piece (I stream NPR & can answer calls w/out pulling my phone out). I feel safe w/one ear fully available.

I've got a $20 pair of some brand name that I used for a long time that I now keep in my gym bag as backup.
I have a Dollar Tree pair that was my old backup pair that I still keep in my gym bag. The right ear only worked once and I could barely hear the audio. Great value, though.

My Mom gave me a pair of Yurbuds. I think they're closer to $30.
Definitely worth it.

Only wore them on the bike once when I was on a trail. Pretty windy compared to the others.

They sound better than any earbud I've ever tried. Then again, I've never spent more than $20 on earbuds.

I quickly browsed an article in Men's Health that talked about doing a triathlon, and how it wasn't really that hard. With a "tsk!" I quickly turned the page while thinking, "Yeah, right!"
