Subject: Stack and Reach - are they the same on tri and road bike?
Hi,

I got a retul fit done for my tri bike last year and have a lot of measurements including frame stack and reach and handlebar stack and reach.

I am finding my current road bike uncomfortable and have been told that it is too small for me. Therefore i'm going to give it to the wife and buy a new one

My question is can i use the measurements for the stack and reach from the triathlon bike fit to help get the correct bike size? or are the measurements going to be different for different types of bikes?

Thanks,

Simon

Ah!!

So is the best way to get my stack and reach values, for a road bike, from another bike fit?

The fit process is (or should be, if the fitter is worth anything) very different for a road bike vs. a tri bike. Tri bike is done front to back (though starting at the back and then iterating after the front is often done, and is unnecessary if you start from the front), road bike fit is done back to front.

The triathlon bike vs. road bike quandary. Before you even ask the road bike vs. tri bike question, you should have a couple sprint triathlons or duathlons under your belt.
