So we're at Deep Creek Lake for the Garrett County Gran Fondo, which was cancelled due to the weather system here today.

Looking for suggestions on safe areas to swim, i.e. staying away from boats. Strava search shows some people swimming northeast of the bridge near the Savageman swim.

Any suggestions/input? When we called the state park office, they basically said to swim in the roped off area...

I loved visiting Deep Creek and doing savageman. I am not local but the savage man swim is nice and usually flat water. That's where we practised and raced.

We didn't have to worry about other swimmers, or boaters for the most part today. Windy, rainy, and about 50 degrees (air temp). Water was about 70 degrees, really nice. Waves kicked up after a few minutes so swimming back to the beach got interesting.

We were politely told by a lifeguard (who was holed up in his shack) that they don't want OWS folks entering at the beach area, since we'll want to leave that area and other swimmers will then follow.

So they recommend entering by the bridge at State Park Rd, and swimming towards but not up to the beach area.

Deep calf pain can be a tricky problem to deal with, and it’s appropriate that you are paying attention to this pain before it becomes a more debilitating injury.

I have a pain deep in my calf about five inches below the knee. A sports doctor did not feel anything wrong in the muscle, and there was no bruising. The tender spot can still be felt on massage.

Symptoms will vary depending on severity of the injury. Injuries generally occur suddenly and often produce immediate pain at the muscle insertion points behind the knee or in the buttocks.
