Comments:

This is as fast as I've run two consecutive miles in quite awhile. Long gone are the days when I placed 2nd in my AG in this race...
Transition 1
  • 02m 6s
Comments:

My assigned rack spot in transition was very close to run in/out and VERY far from bike in/out so there was a lot of walking with bike shoes on which didn't help this transition time. Not that I was really trying to hurry along, mind you.
Bike

Comments:

Could have pushed harder, but knew I was going to have a problems enough with the second run.
Transition 2
  • 02m 6s
Run
  • 27m 34s
  • 2 miles
  • 13m 47s  min/mile
Comments:

Yikes. I started out 1' run/walk intervals. Ended up doing more walking than that. Was completely gassed and my achilles was hurting. I'm guessing either hydration or nutrition was not dialed in correctly because I was ready to pass out, basically.

Event comments:

I love this race. And this year it was taken over by a new group and was even better than before. Transition was set up more logically and racks were marked which was huge, since that meant you didn't have to get there at daybreak to try and get a decent spot. You just got what you got.

After doing duathlons for the last couple of years, I decided to go for a triathlon. Starting with an Olympic-distance race perhaps wasn't wise, but it was fun (of a sort).

Is it possible for loners to work in a small group and still have plenty of time on their own? Training in small groups can give many benefits.

My first duathlon was a success. I had so many fears before the race but none of those fears happened. And when it was all over, I felt I had accomplished something big.

"I was wondering if this is a sensible approach? Should I get "better" on short distance and then move to something longer or do what I want if I feel I can do it whatever the time?"
