Anyone ever seen something like this?
Description:

One small section of wheel (rear)....if you look at it straight on, it appears to 'zig' to the right, maybe a quarter inch? Hard to say really how much. And then slowly 'zag' back to it's proper 'alignment' over the next several inches. It almost looks like a tiny section of it has 'rolled' to the ight.

The wheel/rim appears to be true enough. It almost looked like the tire itself 'stretched at one of the seams in there, but I don't see any pulling or anything. I let a bunch of air out to see what would happen and didn't notice much of a change. I suppose the tube could be caught in there and the bead is just down in there enough that the tube isn't snakebit? I've read some things online that seem to suggest it could be the bead is just out of place. Just tossing it out there.

Taking it in this evening anyway to have one or two other little things checked.

looks like possibly a bent rim.

it might be just the tire, but hard to tell from your pics.

I would take it to your LBS and they can see what's wrong....maybe it just needs truing

Forgot the update....

With Muncie fast approaching....and having some minor annoying gear issues....took it in for a look.

Just a failing tire. In the end, I could see where the "seam?" on the "sidewall?" (the connective tissue between the bead and "tread") had started to fail and pull away and cause a bubble. They trued up the wheel (which wasn't far off as they just did it a few weeks ago when I had it in for another issue).

Went with a tire upgrade....one that has some actual 'tread'. A little more durable, but not heavier. Just a few grooves to help in a wider (wetter) set of conditions. Having wiped out already at a slow speed on pavement I wouldn't say was more than "moist", I figured a little extra traction in moisture won't be a bad thing.

Hope I didn't err. I figure (and the tech confirmed) that the only way I'd notice time-wise is if I were a joe-pro of some sort and had lots and lots of data to compare against. I'm a completer. Not a competer.

What did you go with?

I trained for years on gatorskins which were almost bulletproof, but recently changed to GP4000sii since I am getting a little more competitive, and they seem to be excellent rolling wheels, great grip, and most of the flat protection as my beloved gatorskins :p

Should I remove the PD Jammers bars and ride it as is, set-up for riding in the drops and hoods? Should I run my Easton Orion II wheels or my Hed Jet60 C2's for IMWI?

I am in the process of buying my first tri bike. Because of my size my fitter suggested buying a custom frame but then I have an infinite number of choices for components, wheels, aerobars, etc.

My back wheel needs to be trued up. It has a slight side-to-side wobble, and I feel at times like I'm going to lose control when I ride. Is this something that I should only trust to my LBS to do?

The wheels are my first area of concern and I have started to shop around. I find it nauseating to think of spending the same amount for wheels as my bike. Any help?

Don't know how to take that rear wheel off of your bike? Is the chain making things difficult? Learn how to remove your rear wheel if you have to change your bike tire or fix a flat.

This article estimates how much time can be saved in sprint races by converting from stock aero wheels found on most tri bikes to more aero disk and composite spoked wheels.
