Subject: Need Advice on Timing of my last brick before the race in 5 days
Hi
I'm doing a sprint in 5 days. (Subaru Vancouver) July 5
I was thinking about a swim-ride brick750m wetsuit swim) ( 5km bike), tommorow or the next day.

4 days ago I did the ride- run brick, now I wanna do the swim-ride brick.

Any thoughts on this, or should I be tapering instead ?

Thanks for your help.

Ps the transition during this brick is a joke, and unrealistic, since after the swim I need to leave the beach, get to the parking lot, get the bike out of the back of the car, which was covered up by a blanket, so it doesn't get stolen while swimming.

Dude.....I'm sorry, but that's excellent!

That being the case, forget the swim ride brick.....you'll get nothing from it.  Instead, do a swim, then take a break.  Later in the day, find a place that is safe for your bike and do a double or triple brick.  Ride a couple miles at race pace, then run off the bike for 800 just under race pace. Do it 3 times.  Do it 3 days out from the race.

You mean do an 800m run after the bike? And do this combo 3x?

I just did an intense 40km (25miles) ride yesterday, 4 laps with a bunch of other dudes on road bikes and there were plenty of hills.
Is that enough cycling before the race, my legs are still a bit sore.

Today I did a lieasurly 12mile ride with my wife around town, but that doesn't really count.

5 days out there's no fitness to be gained, just a piece of mind if you need it! I've never done a swim - ride brick, done severely swim - short runs as some of the local tris have longish runs to T1. Do some short race pace interval wo's but don't build the stress. This period is called a taper!

Ok, maybe then just some lengths of the outdoor 137m (150 feet) pool this morning and a light run in the evening? The previous person regarding this post recommended to do a short ride followed by a short run 3x consecutively. (Note: this is just a sprit tri.)

It is a common training practice to do short intervals at race speed, or even a bit faster) a few days out from your race.  The intervals should total roughly half of your race distance. Triple bricks are very common.  You asked about when to do bricks.  If your race is Saturday you would do them on Wed.  If your race is Sunday you would do them on Thurs.  If your training is not that advanced, then do whatever you want........it's a sprint.  You'll finish.

Just wanted to say- good luck in the race! You're going to have perfect weather, but pretty warm-- I'd skip the wetsuit for the 750m-- you won't be in there long enough to get cold.

p.s. Isn't kits pool awesome? It's 150 yards, not 150 feet.
