Subject: When to stop a trail run....

right at the time you look over into the woods and see orange.

Today's run cut short by the need to head back and get a sack to pick a batch of Chanterelle mushrooms.......a great meal is more important than a good run.

The big Bolete mushroom on the right side of the pic was a bonus of epic proportions.....had never found one before.

Life is good!

I want to learn about the wild edibles in my area too. I can only pick out the major berries. On my last ride I had to stop and eat some fresh blackberries that I found on the side of the country road.

Anybody who wouldn't stop for blackberries off the vine doesn't deserve a bike.  Good for you!

Just got done feeding the crew.  Sautéed the Chanterellles in olive oil, butter, minced onion, and crushed garlic.  Poured them over thick cut pork chops and grilled asparagus. 

Fabulous meal! 

I'll cut a run short in a heartbeat for good eating.

I can train for half marathons on pavement and on trails, but as soon as I change it up to gravel or loose dirt my knee swells and the pain it causes is unreal. Any ideas why this happens?
