Happy 4th Everyone! And a special thank you to all our service men and women out there! We owe you all a big THANK YOU for your service and for the freedoms that we enjoy in this great nation of ours!

What's on tap today? Anyone racing? Fun activities planned?

It's the end of a rest week for me, and I only had to do a 20 mile ride. Didn't feel like getting up early and my training partner bailed, so decided to do a trainer workout and catch up on some TV. I actually like the trainer so had a good session!

7:30am - 1.5 hours on the KK trainer. High cadence Z2/Z3 efforts with some big ring work at the end. It was a good workout!

Finished with some stretching and core work and will call it a day.

Nothing much this afternoon and taking the kids to a Diamondbacks Baseball game tonight. Should be fun!

Happy 4th All! Enjoy your holiday!

Happy 4th!
Not so good for me today. I crashed my bike on a 25 mile ride this morning when I caught a lip on the sidewalk. I swerved to the side then fell hard. Nasty scar on my elbow(sorry, no pics) and a couple decent scrapes on my knee. I kept going but only got in 15 miles. It hurt pretty bad and I needed to get it cleaned. I'm thankful for the two guys that helped me up and made sure I was okay. My main concern now is that they won't let me into the pool with a somewhat open wound.

did my "Tour de France" brick workout......after watching a bit of stage one, did 30 minutes on my indoor bike setup watching a Bike-O-Vision DVD in France....listened to my ITunes Deekron the fitness DJ spinning set with Rachel B (she really makes you work) while on the ride..rode easy when in a town, rode hard out in the country..then a 3.5 mile local run in Colonia/Iselin NJ.....jumped into my pool (4 x 18 above ground) ,,,now drinking Miller Lites and watching the Copa America final with Ray Hudson!

Sorry to hear about the crash! If you can find some waterproof bandages, that might help. I've even managed to do a sprint tri with pretty major oozing road rash with the help of a bunch of those. I'd give it a few days to air out and dry up before trying the pool though, to lower your risk of infection and help it heal.

Last big brick here before HIM next week and an Oly two weeks after that (crazy, I know, but those were the only two races nearby during my break.) Headed out early to Row River Trail (aka bike paradise) for a 2 1/2 hour ride and 30 minute run after. High clouds kept it comfortably cool for a change. Not much planned except for picking up some BBQ, eating, and watching fireworks. Taper starts tomorrow--yeah! This HIM madness has gone on a bit longer than planned since I trained for one in May, wasn't happy with my time, so after recovering, kept training till now. That was a LOT of long bricks!
