Hey everyone , My name is James and I've been lurking for a while . I am not athletic and all and need to lose about alot of weight . I'm 245 lbs currently and decided that just having a weight goal wasn't enough , so I decided a fitness goal would ne better. That is why got interested in Triathlons. I am very new to any sort of working out. I would like to try and complete a Sprint this year even though I am getting started late in the season .

The stories on this website have been very inspirational.

Any advice is welcome .

James when I started I weighed a few pounds more than you do. I fell in love with the sport and dropped 60# in a year. Because I needed to get the weight off I didn't follow any training plan. Instead I focused on doing what I really liked to do until I got into the habit of exercising. I did very little running and a lot of riding. Just go out there and focus on getting better each day.

I would not shy away from doing a sprint if you feel you can finish. Don't worry about how fast, just have fun and make the goal to finish.

Let us know how it's going for you.

If that's what you need then that is precisely what you should do.

Check in on BT often. Read any post that seems even slightly related to something you want to learn about. There is nothing that someone else can't provide good input on for you. If you have a question, just ask.

Good luck and let us know how you are progressing.

While running, I've been really struggling to keep my heart rate down in the zone 2-3 range as frequently prescribed in the plan. This seems too slow?

I had read the articles on BT, I'd trained, and I thought I had prepared. There were, however, a few things that I didn't internalize despite what I'd been told.
