How much difference in time would you say there is between the two? The reason I'm asking is because up until a couple of years ago I always used a 25 meter pool and now I use a 25 yd pool. I am trying to compare my times now to times back then. So today I swam 500 yds in 9:17. Do you think that would be sub10 in a 25 meter pool?

If you consider that 1 yard = 0.9144 meters, at that pace you'd do a 10:09 for 500 meters

A quick and dirty calculation is to add/subtract about 10%. This isn't perfectly accurate but, as my dad likes to say, "Good enough for government work." So 100m in 1:40, for example, would be about 100y in 1:30.

The math says that, but switching from scy to scm every year I'd lose :15-16/100.

Tricalc3.com has a handy little calculator that gives you equivalent speeds. I use it all the time since I swim in 3 pools that measure 25 meters, 25 yards and 50 meters.

It's been years since I've swam a full season (1/2 yards, 1/2 meters) and if my memory hasn't failed yet it was ~8s per 100.

I second the "10% rule of thumb".

That's what I use when going back and forth...mine seems to come out to slightly more than 10%, but not by much....
