Event warmup:

Very odd weather. It was oppressively humid all day until 45 minutes before race start when it DOWN POURED for 20 minutes. That broke most of the humidity and the temp dropped 15 degrees or so. Then it stayed dry until halfway through my run when it started to pour again!
Swim
  • 10m 19s
  • 400 yards
  • 02m 35s / 100 yards
Comments:

There was a big storm on the radar headed for us so at the start they decided to do 2 waves instead of the usual 3. This made the course much more crowded than usual. My friend that I usually draft had a hard time finding her space so I actually left her and swam on my own. It was fine. I feel like I finally have a good routine here between the swim and taking my wetsuit off at the shore and putting my bike shoes on and THEN running to T1.
Transition 1

Bike
  • 28m 37s
  • 4.85 miles
  • 10.17 mile/hr
Comments:

My bike time remains 2nd out of my AG (7) but still slower than last year. Also, because it was a little slick this week I'm guessing other people backed off. My time was right in line with last week. A little mud doesn't bother me - makes it more fun!
Transition 2
  • 00m 46s
Run
  • 29m 20s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

I felt great and decided to give it all I had! There's a woman who ALWAYS passes me on the run - well today I hung on and even passed her on the last hill but in the end she got me with 100 yards to go :) It was still one of my best runs there so I'm psyched. Even with the rain - it was a good week.

Nice job getting it done in spite of the challenges. Awesome that you sighted the swim on your own and continue to improve T1.  Second in AG on the bike is awesome! And great job passing the passing lady, even if she did get it back. There's a goal for next time!

afterwards she told me she had just about given up until I did that!

I own both a road bike and a tri bike. I am wondering which bike I should be riding during off season training, or does it matter?
