Subject: Clip on Aero Bars
Hey All,

So I am a couple weeks into my training for my first olympic triathlon! I want to know a good set of less expensive clip on aero bars!! I have used profile a long time ago when I was really into cycling but wondering if there is much of difference from Profile and other brands like Tech9, conquer, 4ward? Any advice would be great!! I will also mention that it is just going on my road bike and I am 6'3 215 if that helps at all!!!

Chris

Get a pair of shortie (aka ITU) bars if you adding them to your road bike. Those are designed to fit the bars to you and not you to the bars (i.e. no need, or reason for that matter, or mock with seat position, set back etc. etc. etc.). Vision Tech TT's are a good choice, but there are other brands as well (ControlTech for example makes some nice ones, as does Deda).

Profile GT Jammers (shorty style) have been on my bike since I bought them. Compact, but work well without compromising my road bike fit

Thanks for your post!
I was actually about to research aero bars and ask if it makes sense to add it to road bike, since I don think I am ready to buy triathlon bike.

I recently added a really nice set of aero bars to my road bike and it made me faster and more comfortable... then I decided to buy a tri bike. They're Vision TriTeamMax 270mm bars. Really nice set. I purchased for $140 plus tax and install at my LBS. they're easy to install, I just wanted him to show me how to do it so I pod the extra $12. Anyway, I'm looking to sell them if anyone is interested. Txt Chris @ 313-919-3594 if you'd like more info. Great idea to add them before buying a tri bike to make sure you like riding in aero and they will really help your bike split.

I read somewhere about "bar ends" to put on your handle bars, do you recommend them? Is this similar to adding clip on aero bars?

You can spend a small fortune on these pre-wrapped bundles of energy, thinking they offer magic ingredients-not true. “Energy” simply means “provides calories” and not “will make you feel energetic."
