Subject: Aerojacket disc cover warping
Hello! I've been a BT lurker for quite some time and now logged in, writing my first post.
I have seen a few forums about the aerojacket disc covers in both BT and ST, but haven't found an answer to my question, which is - "Is it okay to ride your bike with a slightly warped disc cover?"

I have a Planet X Stealth 50mm carbon tubular of which I purchased a disc cover from wheelbuilder.com. Upon arrival item was in good shape, but after 3 trials of installation I found out the DS center cut-out is not big enough thus it makes contact with the hub. Had to enlarge the hole using a sharpie (result was not to circular.

Now I have installed it using the bolts. Upon spinning the wheel it looks a bit "wavy". I'm too tired to dismantle everything again and was wondering whether I could ride it this way, as I have a HIM this Sunday.

Friend of mine who has ridden one for quite some time has a bit of a "wavy" look to his, and it's been fine.

One thing that's common is to use electrical tape around the edges as well to fully secure it to the rim, and I sometimes see the screws a little overtightened, causing warping as well.

Just about to order one myself, I hope I don't need to do surgery to make it fit my hub :p

Thanks for inputs dfquigley. I used it last Sunday and rode smoothly. Loosening the screws seemed to reduce the warpage. Hope you get your hands on one soon.

Have told Wheelbuilder same and waiting if they will send over a set of longer screws.

I don't use the screws...I just tape the inside of the non-drivetrain side (packing tape), then use electrical tape to adhere the aero jacket to the wheel. I have a very slight bit of warp on the jacket, but it doesn't really make a difference, from what I can tell.

The screws seemed to make the jacket warp, fwiw.

A few years ago, I was diagnosed with two lumbar herniated discs (L1-L2). I have started a very slow build towards my first tri. Are there any recommendations or warnings I should heed?
