Expert  1202   Montana |  Subject: 81 years old and still tri-ing.I don't remember if I posted this photo or not last year, but this man inspires me, so a repeat might not be such a bad thing. This is Brad Leonard. He is 81 years old, chairman of USAT HIstorical Committee. He always comes to my little town and races my little race (I'm RD). he told me he is going to 'take it easy' this year....not going to race nationals or worlds! Such an inspiration! Next to Brad is me, then his wife Sue Falsey, and our friend Norm. Norm is 69 this year and still out racing. These people inspire me more than the elite. Extreme Veteran 1190 Silicon Valley | Subject: RE: 81 years old and still tri-ing. Before I started doing triathlons I went to a local event. One of the finishers was an 87 year old woman who has been doing tris for 20 years. I was in my late 50s and got all my excuses blown away. Easily more inspiring than the elite. Thanks for letting us know about Brad. |

I'll never forget my first triathlon. it was a 3 loop repeat. I got passed by a very fit older woman in her late 60s on the bike and I thought "Wow. she is fast. she looks amazing". sure enough if she didn't lap me and pass me again! (I was 31 years old at the time) |
