Subject: Royal Parks Half-Marathon
Hello,

I am writing from Starfish Greathearts Foundation; we are a charity working to alleviate poverty and disadvantage amongst South African children who have been orphaned or made vulnerable as a result of HIV/AIDs.

We have places in the upcoming Royal Parks Half Marathon, a 13.1 mile route through Central London that starts and finishes in the stunning Hyde Park and takes in the spectacular sites of the city and the beautiful Royal Parks. We were wondering whether there was anyone who would be interested in participating or putting a team together to enter into this race on Sunday 11th October. The target fundraising amount is £300.

It would be an exciting goal to work towards as part of a fitness training schedule, as well as an opportunity to raise money for a fantastic cause. Members of the Starfish team will receive a fundraising pack with exciting ideas to help you smash your target of £300, ongoing support and pre-event information and a free Starfish branded running vest, as well as a fantastic team cheering you on to keep you motivated.

Our registration deadline is on 15th August and the fee is £20.

For more information, click here to visit the Starfish website.

Thank you very much in advance for your support.

All the best from the Starfish team!

Yours sincerely,

Alexander Woods

I just started doing tris this summer and I have two under my belt, both sprints. Is it reasonable to build up for a Oly in early ‘09, with a HIM in Oct of ‘09

Steady is our walk. Ignoring the pain that is radiating from my feet, I continue to place one foot in front of the other. Again I wonder, “Why am I doing this?”

Having three seasons under my belt I thought I knew what I was doing. That all changed with a few new challenges and a bunch of new friends.

This program should be used for an athlete whose goal is to run a marathon in the 1:30-2:30 range and has a good running base in the past 8-12 weeks.

I will assume you have not run consistently more than 6 miles and have never completed a half-marathon. I believe running your first half-marathon is a big task which requires dedication and work.

My training was taking off. I had never felt stronger. I was making bigger strides than I ever had. I was stronger and faster than I had imagined myself ever being.
