Anybody watch last night?

Cruz birther discussion was entertaining, but didn't change anything.

Trump killed Cruz on the New York values discussion.

Rubio roughed up Cruz pretty bad with his assault.

I rate the effect of the debate as Trump unchanged, Cruz down, Rubio up.  Overall Trump comes out the winner.

I didn't watch at all, but in reading various articles about it, I read virtually nothing about Bush or Carson. Are they about done? Also, did Rand Paul not participate at all? Goner?

Oh yeah, there were other people there.  I almost forgot.  lol

They cut Rand and Carli from the big table.  Rand pouted around and refused to do the undercard debate because he's a "big boy" candidate so he's pretty much done.

Bush didn't do anything good or bad, but was pretty much an afterthought.
Christie did well at times, but I don't think people are buying what he's selling.
Carson was kind of goofy at times.  It was almost like he was doing the Chris Rock comedy routine because he felt the need to make a joke every time they came to him.  was a bit awkward.
Kasich wasn't overly annoying, but was kissing up to Trump quite a bit.  I think he's trying to take the Cruz approach and be chummy with him to then take his voters.  yeah, good luck with that.
It was mostly Trump, Cruz, and Rubio going at it.

Yeah I will at least give the Republicans the edge on entertainment value.  I tried watching the Democratic debate and it was all about issues and "i supported this" and "you supported that" kind of stuff...  So boring.  lol

Unfortunately, actual policy debate left with Rand Paul.

I've always tried to figure out what the hang up was with Rand.  I have always liked him and he was "anti establishment" before it was cool.
Perhaps it's the baggage of his Dads foreign policy or something else, but I never could figure it out.

Don't overthink it......his name is Rand.....nobody in the Midwest is voting for a guy named Rand.

Trump is hilarious. He literally doesn't say anything substantial, and you just know that any time he actually gets specific that he's probably inaccurate, but people just eat it up.

It was entertaining watching him beat up poor Jeb. Jeb was practically begging Donald to stop being so mean to him. I half expected him to appeal to the moderators for help. Jeb still just can't believe that he's not leading the polls by 20 points and especially can't believe that the Donald is eating his lunch.

Ben Carson: Thanks for playing. Please close the door on your way out. Poll numbers aside, I'd have MUCH rather had Rand on the stage than Carson. He's an empty suit at this point and he really has nothing of interest or value to say anymore. And OMG, his delivery... You'd think, after months on the campaign trail he'd have learned not to speak as though he's delivering a terminal diagnosis all the time.

I stand by my dislike of Cruz, but he's really smart and I often find what he says to be interesting, except when he's proposing Christian Sharia Law or some other far-right nonsense. I can't believe he wasted his closing statement giving a preview of the new Benghazi movie. His rebuttal of Trump's birther theory about him was really interesting; too bad all Trump had to say was "yeah, but still" and he got a huge ovation.

I was more impressed by Rubio than I can remember being in the past. I still think he's too much of a lightweight to be president, but I could see him as a legitimate veep candidate down the road.

Speaking of Veep, I enjoyed Kasisch's shamelessly auditioning to be Trump's veep.

Chris Christie is a Saturday Night Live caricature of himself at this point.

Fair analysis.  I hate to admit it because I can't stand the guy, but Rubio did do a pretty good job.

I also wish Trump would give more specifics and detail things out, but I'm pretty sure it's very intentional to be as vague as possible.  Obama's Hope and Change campaign was brilliant political strategy because everybody thought he was going to do what they wanted.  Many feel the same about Trump now, because his "Make America Great" is subject to brought interpretation based on the various constituents.

I still like Cruz, but I find it hard seeing him working with anybody in Washington.  It's almost like he's Obama, but on the other side of the spectrum with full gridlock.  Trump is brash, but I feel he has a much better chance of pulling people together than Cruz does.

Pretty good summary.

I thought Cruz did the best of the night because he was the one defending the biggest issues:  Canadian birth, proper reporting of loan, New York values.  I thought he handled the first two really well, but he continues to dig his hole deeper on the NY values issue (not sure that it hurts him anywhere but NY, though).

Kasisch stood out to me more last night than before, but it was probably because the Trump/Cruz/Rubio/Christie slapfest is getting tired.

Regardless, Rand Paul is on the Texas ballot and that's who I'll be supporting (even if he suspends his campaign prior to election day).

I know we like to fold our pizza in half when we eat it (except for our borderline-socialist mayor who uses a knife and fork...smh). And we treat traffic signals as helpful suggestions, rather than hard-and-fast rules, but I assume that's not what they're talking about?

I think Mr. Brooklyn's summation of the debate is accurate enough as well.

Cruz is not without his flaws, but I really hope he finds a way to beat Trump.  I'd be willing to take Rubio at this point as well.  I simply cannot take Trump seriously as a politician.  I'm going to be really disappointed if my choice for the next President is Trump or Clinton, but that's looking more likely with each passing debate.

I'm glad that Fiorina is gone, but I feel like the stage was dumbed down without Rand being out there.

You didn't miss much......Cruz basically accused Trump of New York Values....basically being liberal, pro gay marriage, blah, blah, blah.  Trump went on about how New Yorkers responded to 9/11 and showed the world what they were made of, then told Cruz he found his statements about New Yorkers offensive.

Standard stuff from a couple of boneheads.

Nobody mentioned the way you eat pizza.......but that's pretty screwed up.

Not from New York but been there many times. The folding-your-pizza strategy works great when you have to eat it on the go walking to your next meeting or the subway.

Well, the slices are really big, and if you don't fold them lengthwise, they flop over at the end and the grease drips onto your pants. It's purely a practical matter.

Geez, what a ridiculous thing to say. Did I say Cruz was smart? There are 8 million people in NY. Trust me, there are a LOT of conservatives here. We elected Rudy Giuliani as mayor, for heaven's sake.

Cruz applauding when Trump invoked the twin towers after just insulting New York values. What an . I'm just sayin'.

Cruz just kissed goodbye 95 potential delegates from the great state of NY.  I'm not sure that he would have been competitive before, but he most certainly won't now.

I don't think there's any chance of it happening, but several commentators have mentioned how Trump could bring NY into play for the Republicans in the general.  I think it's a pipe dream, but if there's ever a Republican that had a chance it would be him IMHO.

I know we like to fold our pizza in half when we eat it (except for our borderline-socialist mayor who uses a knife and fork...smh). And we treat traffic signals as helpful suggestions, rather than hard-and-fast rules, but I assume that's not what they're talking about?

I don't need to be at any meeting that bad.  What's a subway?

Its a sandwich fast food chain with this Jared pitch guy... (oh wait, never mind)
