Originally posted by jmk-brooklyn I must have missed the "New York Values" section. I'm not sure what that is. Can someone give me a summary? I know we like to fold our pizza in half when we eat it (except for our borderline-socialist mayor who uses a knife and fork...smh). And we treat traffic signals as helpful suggestions, rather than hard-and-fast rules, but I assume that's not what they're talking about?

Here's the segment on New York Values.  Trump owned him

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54UtmiE92yk

Trumps facial expression during Cruz talking said more than any words he could have spoke.  You can say what you want about Trump, he's a New Yorker and very proud of his city.

Thanks for the link. Geez, what a ridiculous thing to say. Did I say Cruz was smart? There are 8 million people in NY. Trust me, there are a LOT of conservatives here. We elected Rudy Giuliani as mayor, for heaven's sake. Cruz applauding when Trump invoked the twin towers after just insulting New York values. What an . I'm just sayin'.

Cruz just kissed goodbye 95 potential delegates from the great state of NY.  I'm not sure that he would have been competitive before, but he most certainly won't now.

I don't think there's any chance of it happening, but several commentators have mentioned how Trump could bring NY into play for the Republicans in the general.  I think it's a pipe dream, but if there's ever a Republican that had a chance it would be him IMHO.

I doubt it.
Unfortunately for Trump, much as it was for Giuliani during his presidential run, New Yorkers have been putting up with Trump's nonsense for a lot longer than everyone else, so nobody here buys his act that plays as such a novelty everywhere else. The rest of the country hasn't seen enough of Trump to know what he truly is, but he's been a tabloid clown for decades in NYC.

I appreciate his sticking up for NYC in the face of Cruz' ham-handed redneck xenophobia. It's probably the only time in the whole campaign that I've appreciated anything he said, but I'd still never vote for him.

regarding the New York values ,Cruz is referring to an interview with Tim Russert in 1999. trump then states that he is pro gay marriage, pro choice, pro gays in the military and a few other statements. trump'' that's the values I have living in new York my whole life. ''

I'm still trying to figure out why any of that makes a damn bit of difference.....or how it would affect my life in any way.  I find it ridiculous that those types of things are even considered when voting for a President. Who cares what one man thinks about social issues.  Just tell me about the economy, foreign policy, and how you can make Washington and the federal govt. more efficient.  The rest of that stuff can be hashed out by state govts.

Because social issues make good talking points that pander to people's emotions while not actually fixing the problems we face as a country.  Both sides are bad about this.

Yeah. The difference is, I don't think that the Democrats' pandering to their base on social issues is hurting them in presidential elections-- at least it hasn't hurt them for the last two.

I think that's right jmk.  Even someone as conservative as my wife thinks I am can no longer stand with the folks who are against gay marriage, gay soldiers, and a host of other "social issues" that really just come down to people being wired differently.....which it turns out, I think is a great thing and adds to the color of life.   My parents were wrong on that one and so was I for a big chunk of my life.

Did anyone watch the latest melee? I did not as I had to watch some paint dry and take a puppy for a walk. Much better options.

Trump apparently missed the memo about Rebublicans being required to wear red ties. I assume it's a signal to his liberal underground friends that he's secretly running on behalf of.
I thought his comments around Planned Parenthood were...odd, but typical of a guy who often doesn't make a lot of sense to me. He said that PP had helped millions of women battle breast cancer, etc, but that he'd defund it anyway, because he's pro-life, which we all know he isn't, really.

Also, did you see his tweet in response to the former president of Mexico saying that if it were up to him, he'd never pay for that wall. He apparently used the "f" word in his comments. Trump's response was to fan himself with both hands and collapse on the davenport like Scarlett O'Hara, calling it "Horrible" and demanding an apology for such language.

I thought Rubio's strategy of reminding everyone of his robotic, repetitive comments in the last debate by saying of Trump, "Now look who's repeating himself!!" could easily backfire on him. It was a funny moment, but if I were him, I'd want everyone to try to forget that that ever happened.

I planned to watch it, but wifey had other plans.

I'm not overly concerned about the debates at this point because Trumps got it in the bag.  Cruz could win Texas, but that's about it.  Trump everywhere else.

I was quite surprised by the Christie endorsement of Trump today.

Yes, he certainly took a few to the ball sack, last night.  Horrible-yet oddly satisfying.

Yuge, build wall, negotiator, 'Merica great, wall, way ahead, Yuge...really yuge.
