hello! Due to an unexpected flood, we're remodeling our finished basement a little sooner than we had planned. I'm planning on making one room into a home gym. What do you all have? What should I look at as far as flooring and introductory equipment? The trainer and treadmill will go there, and I was thinking a weight bench and pull up bar. Bonus points for water resistance, even though we're getting a generator for the sump pump. Economical is good too. Virgin rubber seems to get the highest recommendations, but wondering if cheaper options will work as well - it doesn't have to be beautiful in the basement. Thanks!

TV / Netflix / BlueRay.  40" or so.  So you have something to do on the treadmill & trainer.

Place for a laptop so you can run Trainer Road etc.

Ventilation and dehumidifier.  The heat and sweat of a hard training session is amazing.  I use bedroom as a training room, and if I don't open the window and use a fan then I can fog the closet mirror and the window as solid as a steamroom

I just have short pile carpet for flooring. It's fine. I've read many times that for weight room floors at home, the best option is to get rubber stall mats meant for horse stalls. Heavy, thick, large, high quality, inexpensive for what you get.

I read about the horse mats too. Does anyone here have them? What would I put them on top of? When we tear out the carpet it will be bare cement underneath, and we're going to do vinyl flooring in the rest of the basement.

There was a thread in I think cup of joe that had pictures. Also suggestions for flooring. There were lots of good ideas in there. Might want to check that out also.
