Jr. ran a local race today and had a sizeable lead when a bandit jumped onto the course and ran with him the last 200 yards or so........his 82 year old Grandma!

Said "G-ma" when asked what the hell she was thinking, "I just wanted to run with him."

Said Jr., "I wasn't gonna let her beat me."  LOL

We love triathlon!

You can see where Jr. got his running genes from!  Very cool!

LOL - we all did.  I was a pretty cool deal because when he came around the corner at the end of his last lap of 3 she was with him......we hadn't realized she had walked down to the corner.  Good times, and the kid loved it as you can see from his face.

That is awesome!!! (Btw there is no shame in getting grand-chicked, but bragging rights at the next family cookout is a completely different story! )

My mom did this in my last marathon - she was so sweet and was driving all over the course to find me. When she did, she would run 2 or 3 blocks at a time with me. But it turns out, she ended up injuring herself doing this She was very lighthearted about it and still likes to say she got injured "running a marathon" but I feel bad!

HA!! That's excellent! (but not the injury part)

My son's grandma doesn't get to watch him race very often since he is out of town for almost every race and there is absolutely no way she could do this in any of the draft legal races he does.  He stayed home from AG nationals and turned down AG worlds this year just to stay home and run some local races.  He has done 3 in the last 6 weeks and she has been to all of them and loves watching him.  I know he is having a ball being able to race close to home and having his grandma come to watch.  She told him that she was going to get in better shape and beat him next time......which I'm pretty sure means she is going to get a head start when she sees him coming.

Ha!!

She's in fabulous shape.......likely genetics.  Her mother lived to 97......her grandmother lived to 91, back in a time when virtually nobody lived that long.  I'd say the woman has quite a bit of living to do, which is fine by us!.

Interestingly enough, she has never regularly exercised in her life but I swear the woman still has great legs!
