Subject: P2Max prices drop again...consumers rejoice Not the old stuff either...they are done with the Classic model and price drops are across the board on their Type S models now. More info laid out well by DC Rainmaker. I don't own a P2Max, and I did not post this specifically to promote them, but just to discuss that consumers are finally starting to see the benefits of the increased competition in the power meter market. This move is really going to put pressure on Quarq to also shift their pricing on their Riken and Elsa lines. The last time P2M dropped prices, Quarq and PowerTap also responded. The Powertap P1 pedals seem like all the craze lately, but their main selling point was it was easy to swap between bikes and you are not limited to a single crank arm, bottom bracket, or chain ring size for different bikes. With the price drop on the Type S, you can pretty much afford two Type S meters specific to each of your bikes for the same price as the P1 pedals. No swapping needed at all for roughly $1220 compared to $1199 for the P1s. P2M is a company based out of Europe, and this news came out at Eurobike. Hopefully we'll see more good news on price drops from the American companies (Quarq/Powertap/etc) at Interbike in a couple of weeks. |
