Comments:

The start was rough, run down the beach and then dive into the waves to start, pretty good breakers coming in, took a while to get a rhythm but after the first turn felt better
What would you do differently?:

first ocean swim this year so not terrible
Transition 1

Comments:

long run up the beach as part of transition, still slow getting off the 2 piece wetsuit

Comments:

Was looking for 28 min. so a little off, not sure why as it felt pretty fast, probably gave up sometime right out of transition getting going

  • 04m 29s  min/km
Comments:

knew that was it was going to be a long beach run so was prepared, really like the finish down the boardwalk where you can really turn it on, good close on the beach, course was a little short
Post race
Event comments:

Much improved race venue, stopped doing this race a few years ago because of the bike course but it is really great now, Delmo does a great job organizing and now the course and after race activities are first rate, good race for 1st timers

I'm doing the 22 week sprint tri program and the 2 mile bike ride it starts with is not very challenging. I see this as a opportunity to train the right way and challenge myself. Any ideas?

This past spring I realized a few of us were heading in the wrong direction physically. We were getting together for poker games and kids’ birthdays, but that was it.

The challenge? The accomplishment? I want to do this because it is an opportunity to live life. The event is an indoor sprint triathlon. I get to experience the challenge on a safer scale.

Since your “A” race is your marathon, which you stated in your question, this should be your main focus. I encourage you to taper a bit for the sprint distance triathlon.
