I was pretty out of breath for the first half because I started so hard. But it was a good swim.

Warm down:

I felt fine at the end. Overall: no cramping, didn't puke at the end. An overcast day, plenty of time to hydrate in the morning, a Gu on the bike, and I drank the full bottle on the bike too.

Event comments:

A well-run community event. Only small section of road was really bad but it will be repaved next year. Swim was great as the water was very clear. Run was good because it was overcast, Age group awards were really nice metals with the date, age group, and place engraved on them.

My first triathlon was at age 56. At first I was just the cameraman at my daughter's first triathlon, then I am doing the races that she has done.

The triathlon made a lot of sense as I could fit the training around early mornings and other times that wouldn't eat too much into my family time. Things never go completely to plan do they?

I found a sprint, the Lake Las Vegas Triathlon, that was happening four months down the road and signed myself up; much to the surprise of friends and family.

Both the Lake Triathlon Shoe CX210TRI and the Lake Road Shoe CX225 offer distinct advantages. I tested both shoes and found them to be extremely comfortable, good looking and durable.

A description of my experiences during my first triathlon. It was a great experience. I’m in better shape than I’ve ever been.
